ZIMBABWE NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES (ZNYG)<\/h2><\/div>

BACKGROUND<\/h3><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

This programme was inaugurated in 2003 in Bulawayo as a national strategy meant to enhance sport development among the youths who are below the age of 20 and it currently includes the following sporting disciplines:<\/p>\n

  • Athletics,<\/li>\n
  • Basketball,<\/li>\n
  • Boxing,<\/li>\n
  • Handball,<\/li>\n
  • Football,<\/li>\n
  • Netball,<\/li>\n
  • Tennis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The buildup process starts within local leagues and tournaments, followed by district championships to assemble strong provincial teams towards participation in the Games. The bulk of participants are drawn from schools, clubs, colleges and other platforms.<\/p>\n

    OBJECTIVES<\/h3><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

    • To exploit sport as a platform for youth and life skills development,<\/li>\n
    • To promote sport infrastructural development in all communities in the country.<\/li>\n
    • To promote peace and unity in the country<\/li>\n
    • To serve as a platform to identity, test, measure, evaluate and develop talent for our national teams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      PROGRAM REACH<\/h3><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

      The ZNYG are held on an annual basis in August and reaches out to about 40 000 youths countrywide.<\/p>\n

      The Games have been conducted on a rotational basis in the provinces since 2003 with the support of the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, national associations and other delivery agents, overseers and coordinators.<\/p>\n

      National Sport Associations use the platform for talent identification and selection.\u00a0 Those athletes that excel are further nurtured through training and exposure to higher levels of competition.<\/p>\n

      \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Alexandra Maseko<\/td>\n

      		Vitalis Chikoko scooped the most valuable player (MVP) award in the French Cup 2022 on top getting the trophy<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Athletics<\/td>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ngonidzashe Makusha,<\/p>\n

      \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Angela Makaha,<\/p>\n

      \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gabriel Mvumvure,<\/p>\n

      \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Namatirai Mavugara<\/td>\n

      		Ngonidzashe went on to represent Zimbabwe at the 2020 TOKYO Olympics<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

      This is a national strategy that is meant to stimulate participation, growth and development of sport among the youth in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n
